State licensed medicinal cannabis businesses are protected from prosecution
So the prevailing belief was that the protections of the Rohrabacher-Farr Amendment would not be allowed to be tucked in as a rider to the new spending bill, but as it turns out…it got in! This means that state licensed medicinal cannabis businesses are protected from prosecution or Federal interference as long as they remain in strict compliance with their state’s program.
This means not a single dollar can be spent to harass, prosecute, meddle, etc. with state legal cannabis businesses until at least September and by then, hopefully more expansive protections will have been passed on Capital Hill.
It is possible, that if Congress mobilizes, that the appointment of Jeff Sessions was exactly the shot in the arm that Congress needed to get off their duffs and actually address the issues of the cannabis industry. We can only hope…
